Chromebook Care and Damages
Students in grades 4-8 currently have a Chromebook that has been issued to them to utilize for the duration of the 2021-22 school year. During the first quarter, we have begun seeing preventable damages occurring. Several students are now reporting cracked screens, missing keys on their keyboards, and units that will no longer charge. Although these devices are designed to resist the rigors of daily use, the screens on our favorite mobile devices are actually very fragile. If twisted, poked hard, or if just enough pressure is applied to the back of the LCD assembly, the screen will crack. Unlike a desktop key, each key on a laptop keyboard may have three components: the keycap, key pad, and the key retainer. When the keys have been removed with the help of a pencil, pen, etc., it makes it difficult to repair because one or all of the parts are missing. Damaged charging ports can be prevented if students would be more cautious when plugging in their Chromebook at the end of the day. Please take the time to speak with your student(s) about taking care of their Chromebook(s).
For your reference, we have included the fee schedule to replace broken parts of the Chromebook below.
